Blackberry — gable house with wraparound deck

Scope

A stucco-finished gable house on a meadow with a wraparound deck on posts, a vaulted great room with a wall of glass, an open kitchen with granite counters, a deck-side hot tub, marble-tile baths and a walk-out lower level. Poured foundation, wood framing, an exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) stucco envelope, and cold-climate mini-splits.

Challenge

Open meadow, full winter exposure and a vaulted room with a two-story glass gable — the envelope and the framing had to work together to keep the house warm and the glass wall stable.

Solution

Engineered gable framing for the glass wall, an EIFS envelope detailed at every window, and a wraparound deck carried on its own posts and footings.

Result

Completed 2022; furnished and operating as a vacation rental.
