Questions owners and estimators ask

Short answers to the questions that come with most bid invitations and estimate requests.

Are you bonded and insured?

Yes. Bid, performance and payment bonds are furnished through our surety on New York State work (most recently the University at Albany contract). We carry commercial general liability at $2,000,000 per occurrence / $4,000,000 aggregate, workers' compensation through NYSIF with DBL/PFL, and a $5,000,000 umbrella is available for contracts that require it. Certificates of insurance with additional insureds and waivers go out within one business day.

Do you do prevailing-wage and public work?

Yes — it is our main market. We perform Article 8 prevailing-wage work with certified payroll to NYSDOL requirements, we are a signatory employer to a New York State Department of Labor–registered apprenticeship program (through the ABC Empire State Chapter), and we are a registered vendor in the NYS Statewide Financial System. Recent prime contracts include the University at Albany's Casey Stadium repaint and the campus-wide signage contract at SUNY Oswego.

Which trades do you self-perform?

Masonry restoration, EIFS and stucco, industrial coatings and painting, concrete, polished concrete and epoxy floors, exterior restoration and waterproofing, signage, and general construction — plus roofing, siding, decks, framing, excavation, electrical, mini-split HVAC and lead-safe renovation, all with our own crews and our own scaffold.

Where do you work?

We are based in Albany and work across the Capital Region — Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga Springs, Clifton Park and the surrounding towns — plus Schoharie County, the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. For SUNY and state-agency contracts we travel statewide.

How do I get a bid or an estimate?

Send the plans, the RFP link or a few photos through the form on this page, email dom@thedomconstruction.com, or call or text 518-888-7938. We reply within one business day, walk the site, and send a written proposal. Public agencies and GCs can also add us to their bidders list — our qualifications package, COI sample and W-9 are available the same day.

Can you work on an occupied building?

Most of our work is on occupied property — a stadium in season, hospital campuses, apartment buildings, childcare centers and downtown sidewalks. Phasing, off-hours shifts, pedestrian protection and dust and noise control are planned before we mobilize.

Are you EPA Lead-Safe certified?

Yes. The Dom Construction Group is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm (certificate NAT-F330223-1) with an EPA-certified Lead Renovator on staff, so pre-1978 buildings — schools, apartments, older homes — are handled with full RRP containment and cleaning verification.

Do you take residential jobs?

Yes. Stucco and EIFS repairs, flashing and leak repairs, balcony and deck waterproofing, masonry, concrete stairs and walkways, exterior painting, decks and railings, roofing and siding — and full design-build: additions, renovations and new homes, with concept renderings before we start. Three of our own design-build houses in the Catskills are on the Projects page.

Do you provide a warranty?

Every proposal states the workmanship warranty (one year is standard) alongside the manufacturer's material warranty for the system installed — for example a warranted Sto EIFS envelope or a five-year membrane warranty on liquid-applied waterproofing.
